Today, I wanted to share with you one of my favorite destinations, the city of Fort-de-France in Martinique.
This city offered me the opportunity to appreciate a great historical and cultural heritage that testifies to the richness of this Martinican city. The city also offers a great natural offer with gardens and other parks that occupy a major part of this place.
I am thinking in particular of the Bay of the Flemings, one of the most beautiful bays in the world thanks to its striking splendor!
I had the opportunity to visit the famous Schoelcher Library, a very symbolic place rich in history.
When I went there in 2019, I couldn't miss the famous Saint-Louis cathedral, built in the 19th century, with its impressive metal frame and its magnificent stained glass windows.
The people of Martinique are very welcoming and always smiling. The atmosphere in Fort-de-France is very festive and warm!
The food is also delicious! I had a crush on the smoked chicken, the cod accras, the chicken bokits, the banana gratin and the guava juice!
Only drawback, the mosquitoes!
If you plan to go there one day, take a good set of mosquito repellent with you if you don't want to be a meal for the mosquitoes!
I also had the opportunity to admire the imposing silhouette of the Saint-Louis fort built in the 17th century, once the site of terrible battles between the French and the English.
With friends, I enjoyed strolling in the unavoidable markets of the city center, the most famous and the most touristic being the big covered market. Rich in spices, souvenirs and punches of all kinds, it offers a very lively atmosphere.
Whether it is for a few days stay with friends or between lovers, it is an ideal place for lovers of tropical destinations with exotic flavors!
